the geography.

Chaotianmen sits at the tip of the Yuzhong Peninsula, where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet. One useful distinction: our rooms face the Yangtze, not the two-river confluence.

01 · The water

The Yangtze — Chang Jiang in Chinese.

The broad river directly in front of Changbin Road is the Yangtze (长江), China's longest river. The Jialing joins it farther around the Chaotianmen tip.

02 · Across the river

Dongshuimen Bridge and Nanshan.

The red-and-white cable-stayed bridge links central Yuzhong with Nan'an. Behind it, the green Nanshan ridgeline gives the city a mountain backdrop.

03 · Around the tip

Raffles City and the confluence.

Raffles City marks the Chaotianmen end of Yuzhong. Walk toward Chaotianmen Square to look out over the area where the Yangtze and Jialing meet.

The address at 18 Changbin Road places you in Chaotianmen, within the central Jiefangbei area. Several of Chongqing's best-known stops are close enough to connect on foot.
